He is sitting at the foot of the river, playing the flute and the bull is grazing. How wonderful! This is the "Animal Unfettered" in D.T Suzuki's 'Zen Short Stories' and the picture is of an unknown Chinese master. It is number 6 of the Ten Bulls.
Now, check picture number 7, or, the Bull Transcended, of Japanese master Kakuan: No bull and no flute but the suggestion is there. Am I dreaming? I don't believe so.
